A very busy few weeks with three teams in action in the championship .

First up is the ladies who were dreadfully unlucky to go down by a single score to Thomas McCurtain's at Tottenhall on Saturday , despite starting well and scoring 2 goals through Caitlin and Sinead the opposition were not going away and we found ourselves down three down at half time on a score line of 1-6 to 2-0, we battled hard in the second period and despite never getting back to level pegging a good goal chance at the end could have pinched it , we probably needed to be more ruthless in front of goal and our scoring rate was not high enough to advance , still it has been a fantastic season with far more highs than lows and this will make the group even stronger willed next year , a massive thanks to all the girls for their efforts all year and a huge thanks to Chris, Brian , Barry , Des , Jason and everyone who has formed this group who bring so much positivity to the club and its hard to imagine the club without them such has been their impact in such a short time .

Full Time Score

St Kiernan's 2-05(Caitlin 1-02,Sinead 1-1,Ruth 0-1,Sarah 0-1)

Thomas McCurtain's 1-9

Junior Men

Our junior men had a great start to the championship campaign coming from four behind at half time to win by three with some key switches and substitutions getting the game to swing our way , we found Shay Rafter hard to handle in the first period and went in 0-11 ,0-07 down at half time , the game soon shifted and superb accuracy from Adrian Moyles gave us the composure we were looking for , with ball supply to Rafter drying up Tara had little answer to our superiority and we finished the better side , some excellent performances all over the field and there is quiet optimism that this group can do something this year , a second round victory for TCG over Tara guarantees us our semi final spot and next weekends game in Barnet will decide who tops the group .

Full Time Score

St Kiernan's 0-16(Moyles 0-4.Tommy M 0-4, Tommy C 0-3,Caelon 0-2,Tierney, Ali and Chris Griffin 0-1 each)

Tara 0-13

Senior Men

The Seniors started off the defence of their championship crown with a 9 point victory over Shamrocks at McGovern Park on Saturday , the opposition registered their first score in the 42nd minute by which time we had 9 points on the board and really it was case of patience and getting the job done against a side who came out to stifle us , in truth not a lot was learnt and more will be required in two weeks time when we face Round Towers , some good displays though again with defence holding up well and mentions to Jamie Gillen , Oran , Kevin Henry, Chris and Sean who all played well on the day , more to come but for now its one from one and job done .

Full Time

St Kiernan's 0-13(Chris F 0-5, Kevin H , Sean T and Jamie 0-2 each, Tom and Oran 0-1 each)

NLS 1-01

Underage have returned to training and will continue for September with some good blitzes coming up and the reserves begin their championship campaign with a home game against Fulham on Sunday .
