Keltic Traffic Management Division 1 league final 2024
St Kiernans 1-18
North London Shamrocks 0-15
The seniors came out on top in this titanic battle against North London Shamrocks in the searing heat at McGovern Park yesterday to give the club its fourth league title and the second trophy of the year , a tight game with excellent scores and displays on both sides saw us eventually turn the screw in the third quarter opening a lead of 6 points with four unanswered scores to give us the breathing space we needed to see the game out , the first half was score for score for the most part but a great save from Dan McDonagh followed by a goal at the second attempt by Kevin McCarthy was the key moment in that tense 35 minutes with well deserved water breaks being brought in to try and protect the players .
Shamrocks kicked the opening score of the second half but we then went from that to the second water break outscoring them by 5 points to 1 giving us a 1-13 to 0-10 point lead , Michael Carroll continued to cause us issues at midfield but the last quarter saw us closing the game out very well with sustained period of controlled possession, some outstanding place kicking from Kevin Henry, typical scores from Kevin McCarthy , sublime point scoring from range from Sean Tucker along with solid scores from Jamie Gillen, Eoin Walsh Coamhin Doolan and Chris Morris who at 18 looks assured throughout and is a fantastic prospect for us were the highlight up front and a man of the match performance from Conor o Donohue who was relentless in his running from deep throughout , every man from Dan in goal to Chris Morris at 15 played their part as did the substitutions in the second half where David Carabine, Matt Joyce and Tierney, Rob Reid and Danny Doyle were introduced to Great effect to maintain the energy levels .Captain David Carabine collected his second trophy of the season and we look forward to getting down to championship action now in the coming weeks
