The Ups and Downs of championship football were played out this weekend for the club as a busy Sunday saw our junior homegrown team pipped of a semi final place on score difference to Tara after beating group winners Wandsworth Geals in a tense affair in Greenford , knowing only a win would suffice we blew Wandsworth away in the first 15 minutes but some second half slip ups left us holding on a the end and then waiting for other results to go our way, alas this was not meant to be and a strong Tara win against St Anthony's saw them through on score difference , a lot learnt from the season and a lot to take in to next year with some exciting youngsters to add to the group .Great credit to the mentors Jason Mullarkey and Declan Ryan and all players involved .
The seniors took to the field in Ruislip against TCG with both teams knowing a semi final place was already secured , we had the best of the opening half and missed some excellent goal opportunities but had only a single point to spare 0-06 to 0-05 at the change of ends . We started the second half much the brighter and by the water break had a 5 point cushion at 0-10 to 0-05 and it looked like there would only be one winner , a bizarre penalty awarded to TCG gave them a lifeline and reduced the deficit to 2 and a simple long ball caught us out , all of a sudden we found ourselves 1 point down in injury time , we didn't panic and after working through the field we were awarded with a free which Kenny o'Connor duly converted to end the contest , we now go forward to play Fulham Irish in 2 weeks time for a place in the final .
