It is hard to believe that instead of writing a club update on this weekends games I find myself writing about our long term ,loyal clubman Brendan Moyles who went to his eternal rest in the early hours of yesterday Friday 09th July 2021. A face known to so many not just within the club and to the London GAA fraternity but also within the GAA family both here in the UK and in Ireland .The long list of tributes that have been pouring in to the clubs social media and the official e mail address shows just how well thought of Brendan was .A native of Co Mayo Brendan has been a huge figure with St Kiernans since his son Adrian first started kicking a ball and his list of roles within the club were endless from kit man, PRO, registrar, video analysis , photographer, car park greeting, umpire, linesman and much much more .There was never a job that was too much trouble to Brendan and a smile would greet anyone who passed his way while he was doing it , Brendan (pictured here on the left with club president Patsy Redmond on car park duty for a recent girls blitz in Barnet Lane ) never saw the club as a chore or a nuisance and his dedication to the volunteer role within St Kiernans and London GAA will be impossible to replace .

In recent years Brendan was behind the camera when his son Adrian captained St Kiernans to our Senior Championship success in 2016 and I know the deep sense of pride he had that day following years of tireless work with the club at all age groups , along with Patsy Redmond and Jerome o Shea he would not judge players or management too harshly on any given day and a simple well done when you won or hard luck when you lost was all you got which is all you need .He was a popular musician on the Irish traditional scene in London and his 'discussions' with Jerome about which band to use at the dinner dance were an annual source of amusement for the rest of us .Ever present at a funeral of any known acquaintance , dinner dance or celebration of club and county, match days at Ruislip or County Board meetings it will be hard to imagine our lives without Brendan being part of it , his final week was spent doing the things he enjoyed the most doing video and photography for the London 125 year kids blitzes in Ruislip last weekend along with attending the u13 league semi final on Tuesday in Stanmore where he handed out discs to the various coaches of their teams games the previous weekend. He would no doubt have been in Ruislip again today before taking in the U13 League final, Conway Cup final and reserve league games we were due to compete in this afternoon , the club will carry on and his legacy will make us stronger but people like Brendan Moyles will never be replaced and will never be forgotten .

The club would like to send our heartfelt condolences to his wife Frances , his son and lifelong St Kiernans player Adrian , his daughter Stephanie , Adrians fiancée Harriet and Brendan's granddaughter Florence along with Brendan's wider family both here and in Ireland .We thank the family for sharing him with us all these years as we would not be where we are now as a club without Brendan Moyles .

May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace until we meet again .
