Keltic Traffic Management Division 1 League final
St Kiernans 1-13
Tir Conaill Gaels 0-08
Our senior side added the 2022 league to the 2021 championship trophy to win their 3rd league title in 7 years, a fast start saw early scores from Brazil, Kenny(0-3) , Oran Kerr , Kevin McCarthy & Chris Farley saw us take a commanding 0-07 to 0-02 break at the newly renewed water break to compensate for the searing heat in McGovern Park , a tight back line meant we had given little chances away in that opening period , the water break offered respite and gave the Gaels a bit more possession but some steady scores from Oran Kerr and Chris Farley saw us go in at half time with a six point advantage ,0-09 to 0-03 with all scores coming from play .
The 3rd quarter belonged to TCG and they rallied with well taken scores by Liam Gavaghan and Ferghal McMahon to bring the deficit back to four at the second half water break , Dave Rogers excellent game being capped off with a sublime score to keep our scoreboard ticking over , the introduction of James Moran stopped the TCG midfield dominance and allowed us to build a platform for the last quarter and a Chris Farley goal six minutes from time ended the contest , Brian Rutledge looked lively coming off the bench and added a nice score to his name at the end .A good debut by Kevin McCarthy who linked play very well throughout and some eye catching displays from Oran Kerr, James Callery and Man of the match David Rogers .
The seniors now play Kingdom in the first round of the Senior championship on Friday 19th of August in McGovern Park at 18.45 followed by the Juniors on Sunday 21st at 12.00pm where they face Wandsworth Gaels for a place in the Junior championship final , the reserves had a strong win over North London Shamrocks in their opening championship game with strong performances from Hessy , James Callery , JP , Barry , Joe Joe and Paudie , They now face Thomas Mcuratins in Round 2 on Monday evening 15th at Tottenhall Lane .
